Let’s Talk About It: Mental Health for the Culture

Saturday, October 24 | 11 a.m.–3 p.m. | 216 S. Wilmington Street, Raleigh

Some of the most important conversations are also the hardest ones to start. How are you really doing? What does stress look like in our house? What are we carrying that we don’t talk about?

On Saturday, October 24, The Resiliency Collaborative (TRC) and BeYOUU Inc. are making space for those conversations. Let’s Talk About It: Mental Health for the Culture is a free afternoon for youth ages 11–18 and their families. Come together, speak openly, and leave with tools to support one another.

Why this conversation, and why now

Our teens tell us they’re feeling the weight of academic pressure, burnout, and the expectation to always have it together. Many of them say the hardest part isn’t the stress itself. It’s not knowing how to talk about it with the people closest to them.

That’s why youth voice is at the center of this event. Let’s Talk About It grew out of what young people in our programs told us they need: honest, judgment-free conversations about mental health that include their families, not just talk about them.

What we’ll talk about

  • Youth mental health awareness: What it looks like, how to recognize when someone is struggling, and where to turn for support
  • Academic stress and burnout: Real talk about pressure, expectations, and how families can help teens find balance
  • The masks we wear: Why we hide how we feel, and what it takes to show up as our full selves

What to expect

  • Breakout sessions for youth and for families, so everyone has room to speak freely
  • Family talk time to bring those conversations back together
  • Interactive activities that make tough topics easier to approach
  • Mental health professionals on-site to answer questions and connect families with resources
  • Community partners sharing information about local programs and support
  • Lunch provided, on us

The event is completely free. Bring your teen, bring your family, and bring your questions.
